CAPSTONE PROGRAM

The Austin Keystone Academy Capstone Program is designed to provide motivated high school-aged students with an opportunity to synthesize the knowledge, skills, and experiences they have gained throughout their education into one meaningful, student-driven project. Rather than serving as a final examination, the Capstone represents the culmination of a student's academic journey through research, creativity, leadership, and reflection.

Participation in the Capstone Program is entirely voluntary. High school students who wish to pursue a Capstone project may apply for acceptance into the program. The Capstone experience is intended for students who are prepared to undertake a significant independent project requiring sustained effort, self-direction, and academic rigor over the course of 6-8 months.

Student Eligibility and Application

The Austin Keystone Academy Capstone Program is open to all high school-aged Keystone students who wish to pursue an advanced independent project.

Students must submit a Capstone Proposal outlining their intended project, research plan, timeline, learning objectives, and anticipated final product.

Submission of a proposal does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

Projects will be reviewed by the Austin Keystone Academy Capstone Program Director to determine whether they:

  • Demonstrate sufficient academic or artistic rigor

  • Require sustained independent work over an extended period

  • Include meaningful research and documentation

  • Result in a substantial final product

  • Are achievable within the proposed timeline and available resources

  • Align with the Austin Keystone Academy’s educational mission and community standards

The proposal may be approved, require revisions before approval, or be declined.
